Languedoc beaches and coastal towns
Languedoc has several quality sandy beaches. The region is also well known for its naturist beaches such as Cap d'Agde and Aphrodite.
Some of the more popular resorts include
- Saint Cyprien
- Cap d'Agde, a well known naturist beach and centre
- Argeles-sur-Mer
- Gruissan
- Montpellier and nearby La Grande Motte
- Sete
The Mediterranean coast in Languedoc, moving west to east, is known as
- the Cote Vermeille (the coast near the Spanish border), with the popular fishing villages and resorts around Collioure, Argeles-sur-Mer and Banyuls
- the Cote d'Amethyste is further north-east, from Narbonne and St Cyprien and on beyond the Etang de Thau and its traditional fishing villages and as far as La Grande Motte.
