Vendee beaches and coastal towns
Lovely sunny beaches often backed by pine trees, the Vendée beaches are especially famed for being children friendly - long, sandy and safe. eg La Baule, a very long sandy beach loved especially by families; Bretignolles-sur-Mer, a fine vendée surfing beach and Pornichet.
Vendee can pride itself on having the most carefully chosen names for their stretches of coastline and beaches!
- The Cote d'Amour ('coast of love') includes popular La Baule
- the coast is known as the Cote de Jade ('jade coast') as you move into the Vendee and the Pays de la Loire region, and includes the resorts between St Brevin les Pins and Les-Moutiers-en-Retz
- continuing beyond Noirmoutier the section of coast to the north of La Rochelle is known as the Cote de Lumiere ('coast of light') and includes several popular beaches and destinations such as Saint-Jean-de-Monts and Les Sables d'Olonne
